World Wrestling Entertainment is already planning for next year’s Wrestlemania 25. WWE has posted this press release:
Everything Is Bigger In Texas: WrestleMania XXV In Houston
STAMFORD, Conn.– Fresh off the tremendously successful WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando, World Wrestling Entertainment® is already working with the Houston business community on WrestleMania XXV, which will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Houston’s Reliant Stadium, home to the NFL’s Houston Texans.
WWE executives and WWE’s most decorated Superstar, Ric Flair, traveled to Houston today to meet with local city officials and businesses, to begin preparations for this milestone event. Their collaborative agenda includes planning stadium production, discussing sponsorship opportunities and organizing citywide activities. The trip included a luncheon with more than 100 Houston business leaders and discussion of how their companies could integrate with sports entertainment’s biggest pop culture event.
For the past two years, WrestleMania has attracted fans from around the world, and infused up to $30 million into the local economies of host cities Detroit (WrestleMania XXIII) and Orlando.
The always anticipated WrestleMania weekend is expected to feature the 2009 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the annual Bacon, Bagels and Biceps Brunch, the annual national WrestleMania Reading Challenge Finals, another wish granting initiative with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, visits to schools and libraries, local fundraisers and exciting opportunities to meet WWE Superstars and Divas at various public appearances.
“Fans in Houston can expect an up-close and personal experience when WrestleMania XXV comes to Texas next year,” said Geof Rochester, Executive Vice President, Marketing. “It’s going to be an amazing 25th Anniversary celebration.”
In 2001, the Houston Reliant Astrodome hosted WrestleMania 17 (WrestleMania X-Seven). A record 67,925 fans witnessed Stone Cold Steve Austin regain the WWE Championship from The Rock, among other exciting matches, making WrestleMania X-Seven, at the time, the highest grossing live event in WWE history. In addition, the event shattered Reliant Astrodome live attendance records.
Major Robbery at WrestleMania 24
by admin on Apr.14, 2008, under Wrestling News
We have reports that there was a major robbery at WrestleMania XXIV. But it wasn’t the spectators that were scammed, no. This time, the wrestlers that got hurt.
The most expensive single item stolen was Batista’s Rolex watch, which is valued at over $60,000. That’s right, someone actually was dumb enough to steal from the Animal!
Along with the Rolex, money, wallets, passports and keys were stolen. One of those stolen passports belonged to WWE superstar Matt Hardy.
Things are a bit hectic in the WWE office as they’re trying to get passports replaced as fast as they can due to the upcoming overseas tour, which starts this Friday.
We’ll have more for you as this develops
Can’t wait for these guys to get caught, they better not walk down any dark alleys anytime soon.
Reasons Behind No Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 24
by admin on Apr.13, 2008, under Wrestling News
As it turns out, our beloved “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was actually in Florida during Wrestlemania weekend. He arrived in on Thursday, hung out with friends from WWE & TNA throughout the weekend, and even attended the Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday. And if that wasn’t enough, Austin even had an open invitation to attend WrestleMania 24 in the luxury box with the McMahon family, Kevin Nash and others. But interestingly Steve Austin declined the offer.
Why? Austin instead chose to fly home so he could watch WrestleMania 24 from the comfort of his living room.
Austin wanted to enjoy WrestleMania XXIV, especially the Flair vs. Michaels match, without being distracted. He told his old friends that it’s hard to enjoy shows he attends in-person because everyone wants to come up and talk to him. Alas…The Price of being famous i guess.
Snoop Dogg Falls Asleep at WreslteMania 24?
by admin on Apr.06, 2008, under Wrestling News
Well, for those who live eat and breath Wrestlemania, you will know that going from the letter of the script, Snoop Dogg missed his cue to enter the ring during the BunnyMania Match.
Well, some are saying that the rapper/actor may have actually fallen asleep! Snoop had to be nudged a couple times, where he quickly got up and into the ring to clothesline Santino Marella.
Despite the delay, those backstage thought the clothesline was pretty good for someone whose never been in the ring before. Snoop apparently checked out of his hotel at 6:00 AM the following morning. It must be such a tough life he leads that he can’t stay awake to jump in the middle of 4 WWE Divas play fighting.
