Backstage News On The Rock’s Heat At The Hall Of Fame

by admin on Apr.22, 2008, under Wrestling News

Dwayne Johnson The Rock

Several sources inside the WWE were surprised to hear reports of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson being aloof backstage at the Hall of Fame. They thought he was just being his regular Dwayne Johnson self and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.
Apparently there were only a couple people upset with Johnson, but they were, of course, the top people in the company. Most of the heat on The Rock has been attributed to either jealousy or not knowing that he had to leave immediately because he’s working on the Witch Mountain film.

The Rock talked to Mr McMahon before the show and talked about having some fun on the show and having a long monologue to open up the show as if he was the host of the show. The Rock told Vince that he would roast some of the guys in attendance and be self-deprecating. McMahon loved the idea and Rock apparently said that he was having a great time and would have gone for another hour if he could have.

If you remember Both The Rock’s and Flair’s speeches went long, but only Flair was told to ‘wrap it up.’

So maybe the whole this is just a mole hill after all.

Update – Between The Rock and a Hard Place – The WWE

by admin on Apr.13, 2008, under Wrestling News

Dwayne Johnson The Rock

As some of you may know, there is some serious friction between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and The WWE right now. Both the WWE’s management and even the top wrestlers. John Cena touched on the issue recently during an interview published in the UK Sun where he asked why Rock couldn’t attend more WWE events.

It seems The Rock has rejected many of The WWE’s invitations to events since he left the company and landed in Hollywood – and that doesn’t sit well with John Cena, Vince McMahon, Triple H or Steve Austin, just to name a few. Everyone feels that Rock should do more to “pay back” the company, and the fans that helped him become a star.

There are a number of people within the WWE who sympathize with Rock’s situation however. Since he has become a hot name in Hollywood, he could be advised to distance himself from pro wrestling. Now that the Rock makes a lot more money with movies than he did with wrestling, he would obviously want to do what takes care of his family best.

From The Texas Rattlesnake’s perspective however, he has said he wishes he was in the physical condition to continue wrestling. So it’s hard for him to understand why someone like Dwayne Johnson wouldn’t want to do more in wrestling. Austin’s lengthy list of injuries probably won’t allow him to wrestle another full-length match. Rock and Austin haven’t stayed in touch with each other over the last few years and there was reportedly some friction between the two at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday night.

One source at the WWE mentioned Rock might be returning to the ring at WrestleMania 25, but said that the chances of it happening are pretty slim if for no other reason than his busy filming schedule.

Update – Full Transcript of John Cena’s Harsh Words on The Rock

by admin on Mar.04, 2008, under Wrestling News

John Cena
In light of all the heat Cena is getting, The Sun has decied to post the full transcript of their interview with John Cena:

“This is my take on The Rock, and he’s a genuinely nice guy. I’ve met him; he’s a fantastic human being. What I kind of get peeved about, and I guess this is my flaw, my Achilles heel, I hear it every day with young talent, with midcard talent, with people aspiring to make it in this business; I hear “I’ve wanted to do this my whole life.
Rock falls into that category. He, at one point, loved wrestling and wanted to do this all of his life. Explain to me why he can’t come back for a 15th Anniversary show or why he can’t make an appearance at Wrestlemania.
Simply put it’s because he wants to be an actor. There’s nothing wrong with that, there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s a very good actor, he’s very successful, he’s done very well for himself and associating with sports entertainment doesn’t do much for his acting career. It only helps out the sports entertainment audience so I get why he doesn’t come back.

Just don’t f*ck me around and tell me that you love this when you are just doing this to do something else. That’s the only thing that gets me really pissed off.”

We Can See You Cena!! Targets Form Over Cena about His Comments on The Rock

by admin on Mar.02, 2008, under Wrestling News

John Cena

John Cena is reportedly getting some serious heat from veteran wrestlers in the WWE locker room for his anti-Rock comments. John Cena talked briefly about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in an interview with The UK Sun. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter writes that many people are “real upset” about Cena’s strong words.
This is what Cena has said:
At one point he loved wrestling and wanted to do this all his life. So explain to me why he can’t come back.
Simply put it’s because he wants to be an actor and there’s nothing wrong with that.” Cena said. “He’s very good and very successful.
Associating with sports entertainment doesn’t do much for his acting career. I get it. Just don’t f*** me around and tell me that you love this. That’s the only thing that gets me really p***ed off. Our fan base have so much admiration for him, he’s got to respect that. He doesn’t give anything back.”

Now, for the record, John Cena did say this BEFORE The Rock announced he will appear at the 2008 WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony. Even if The Sun only announced this recently.
What do you think – Publicity stunt or Over-inflated Ego?
