Dave Batista - The Animal

According to insider sources, Batista is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday morning for a torn biceps muscle that he sustained in a match just before his bout with Randy Orton at “Extreme Rules” 2 nights ago. The injury was most likely the reason their match only lasted just over 7 minutes.

Why the WWE decided to go through with the title change despite the injury is still a question, but not doubt the reason will be revealed in a storyline in the near future.

Expect an injury storyline or something similar to be done on RAW to get the title away from Batista, as once he undergoes surgery, he’ll be out of commission for a while.

In an interview with The Sun, Randy Orton shares his opinion on his match with Triple H at WrestleMania XXV, punting Vince McMahon in the head, why Manu was booted from Legacy and ultimately released from WWE, which wrestler he would add to Legacy, and much more. Here’s some of the highlights:

On his match with Triple H at WrestleMania XXV: “This was a storyline where Triple H needed retribution. He needed to beat the living p*** out of me because of what I did. I handcuffed him and made him watch while I beat up his wife and then kissed her while she was unconscious. Then to top it off after I do that, I knock him out with a sledgehammer to the head. I kick his father-in-law in the skull and put him in the hospital, and do the same to his brother-in-law. I think when all that happens and then you have this match where he can’t be disqualified or he loses the title, you kind of screw yourself. We were not able to do everything that the other guys were able to do. Matt and Jeff Hardy had a hardcore no-holds-barred match. They were able to use all the bells and whistles to beat the hell out of each other. Everyone was expecting Triple H and I to do the same, but we had rules that put a fence around everything we were able to do. We weren’t able to go to the extreme. If anything hurt us, it was that.”

Did he try changing the rules of the match with Vince McMahon? “No, because I was happy with the match. I really was. The crowd in the arena had seen three and half hours of wrestling and, not only that, they had seen some very good wrestling. Shawn Michaels and Undertaker put on a hell of a performance, the Money In The Bank match was crazy and a lot of guys did some death-defying maneuvers. When you do that and then you have this match with two guys who can’t be outside of the ring for more than 10 seconds, you kinda screw yourself. You’ve backed yourself into a corner where it’s going to be hard to outperform the matches that went before you. I think our storyline and what our match was all about deserved to be the main-event match on WrestleMania. But I think that the restraints and stipulations around the match made it harder on us than it should have been.”

What about the wrestling fan population who have grown tired of Triple H: “Yes, there is that minority of people out there who have seen enough of Triple H. I’ve had fans come up to me and beg: “Please kick Triple H in the head.” He’s a huge babyface, probably the ultimate babyface. But no matter what the character is, there’s always going to be that smart group of people who want to see the guy on top shot down. Just like right now there’s probably guys telling Batista to beat the hell out of me this Sunday at Judgment Day.”

Any thoughts about going easy on Vince McMahon when booting him in the head: “Did you see that kick to Vince? It didn’t look like anything was pulled did it? They replayed that thing from every angle and he definitely ate a big piece of my boot. When I’m kicking Vince in the head, if it doesn’t look good on live TV, people are going to think: “Oh, he didn’t want to kick him too hard because, deep down inside, Orton knows that is his boss so he took it easy on him.” So I did the opposite. I kicked him harder.”

Extras: “I want everything I do in the ring to be as crisp and as perfect as humanely possible. I calculate my movements to where it’s going to be the best for that moment. So when I kicked Vince in the head, the only thing going through my mind was: “I’m going to kick this b*****d in the skull as hard as I can. Here we go. I’ve been waiting for this one!”

Why was Manu booted from Legacy AND The WWE: “Manu had some respect issues. There are a lot of different reasons he wasn’t good for Legacy, but the reason he’s not with the company anymore had a lot to do with his backstage attitude. His father was the great Afa, of the Wild Samoans, and Manu had been in the ring since his early teens. Now, in his early 20s, technically he’s been in the ring for more than a decade – but not really. Really he’d only been in the business a month by the time I knew him. He carried himself like he had been in the business for 15 years. He thought he knew everything. He thought he deserved a first-class seat when we went overseas. He thought he didn’t have to pick up in the lockeroom after the show was over, like the new guys do. He didn’t feel like he had to pay his dues, because he’d already paid them. What he doesn’t understand is that wrestling once a week for 10 years doesn’t count. When wrestling is all you do, when everyone in the world knows who you are and you’ve held titles and main-evented PPVs – that’s when you start to get to the point where you might deserve a little something extra. I don’t think he applied himself in the gym or when it came to his diet. He just thought: “Hey, my dad is Afa, the Wild Samoan, so I get a job. I deserve to be here.” He just didn’t get it.”

Who would make a good 4th member to Legacy: “If someone came to me and said we need another guy in this group, I would go with Harry (Smith). Right now though, I think we’re fine. I feel like everything is running its course. It’s going smooth.”

The WWE explained On Monday night’s Raw, that Randy Orton’s recent rash of violent behavior has been due to the behavioral disorder IED (intermittent explosive disorder). According to a number of medical websites, IED is defined as “a behavioral disorder characterized by extreme expressions of anger, often to the point of uncontrollable rage.” Now, we’re not saying this is the only reason, but many medical websites link the disorder to steroids as IED can be made worse by steroid use due to chemical changes in the person’s brain.

News website Huliq.com posted an article yesterday regarding intermittent explosive disorder and Randy Orton was mentioned. They wrote: “Interestingly, according to recent reports, WWE wrestler Randy Orton has intermittent explosive disorder or IED. He says he’s been diagnosed with it, in fact. But it should be noted that some have posited that IED may be exacerbated by steroid use.”

For the record, Randy Orton has ties to past steroid use.

In March 2007, Sports Illustrated said the former WWE Champion was part of a steroid and HGH ring used by a number of professional athletes in several sports. The article mentioned several current and former WWE wrestlers, including Orton, who was alleged to have obtained clomiphene citrate, anastrozole and the steroids stanozolol, nandrolone, oxandrolone, and testosterone. WWE made a statement on the situation, claiming that the allegations preceded the Talent Wellness program WWE launched in February 2006.

However, it was later revealed that Orton continued to receive drugs until February 2007. Amidst the Signature Pharmacy drug scandal in August 2007, Sports Illustrated said Randy Orton received somatropin, nandrolone and stanozolol from September 2004 through February 2007, up until the online pharmacy was shut down by authorities.

WWE Superstar Batista is expected to miss several months of ring time as a result of a torn hamstring. The injury began giving him problems during last month’s European tour and has only gotten worse. His injury is serious enough that he is expected to undergo surgery to remedy the problem soon. Randy Orton’s punt kick to his head last week on Raw was the storyline reason for Batista’s disappearance from television.

Batista is expected to be out of action until at least June, with a worse case scenario being August. This means of course, that Batista will be missing WrestleMania 25.

No word yet on whether WWE will acknowledge the legitimate reason for Batista’s absence or if they will just blame the reason on Randy Orton.

Last week we reported that Randy Orton was involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident that re-broke his collarbone near his home (in High Ridge, Missouri). As the story goes, The Legend Killer Orton claimed his motorcycle struck the curb after a car veered into his lane, causing him to swerve to widen his turn. Where Orton said he was thrown off his motorcycle and continued to roll 300 feet while unconscious. Landed in the ditch, Orton believes he could have died had he not been wearing a helmet. He said his only injury was to his collarbone, which won’t require additional surgery, but he would be out of action for about three months…

Well according to Wrestling Observer, the entire ordeal does seem suspicious. Thus far, the St. Louis media has yet to report anything on the supposed accident. Secondly, the Missouri highway patrol has no record of responding to any accident involving the WWE Superstar, although they would likely only have to do with the highways.

Some people even have gone as far as asking the St. Louis police department about the apparent accident, but they knew nothing about it when asked. Orton lives out in High Ridge, a St. Louis suburb in Jefferson County. Some people have also called the county sheriff’s department, but reportedly it goes to a voice message and then says that the message box is full.

And if that’s not enough, some of the neighboring jurisdictions that the St. Louis police suggested were also checked, and once again, nobody knew anything about the accident.

Just to help fill in the timeline, a few days before the half-reported accident, Orton was in the U.K. promoting SummerSlam and said he was two weeks away from returning to the ring.

What really happened we wonder…

As we reported last week, Randy Orton was recently involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident. Good news is that Randy Orton is well enough to post the following on the forums of Randy-Orton.com and has taken a pic of himself for the site holding a piece of paper saying he doesn’t have a MySpace page, so yes, it’s him. Here is what he posted:

i was ran off the road last night at 1030 by a car that had its hi beams on and was veering into m lane during a sharp turn a the top of a hill near my home. i had no choice but to crash, and was thrown 300 feet from the concrete block that sent me flying. i was traveling about 30 miles per hour. i’m lucky to be alive. i have some pretty severe skinned up areas such as my left knee right foot, and left shoulder trap. wwe. com should be posting that it wasn’t 30 feet but 300 soon. i just called and bitched em out, for the typo. i was wearing a helmet, and if not for that i would have without a doubt been a goner. i see what the extent of my rebroken collarbone is tommorow. ill let you all know. the bike was a harley fat bob, and it was a rental. it is totaled.im happy im alive, and that the bike wasn’t mine. all i could think about was my daughter and samantha. God was definetly watching over me!!

Glad to hear that The Legend Killer is still alive and breathing and wish him a speedy recovery.

The Sun has published an interview with Randy “The Legend Killer” Orton while he was in the UK last week. The interview touches on which wrestlers Randy Orton likes, as well as who he dislikes.

Orton starts by praising Ric Flair, Undertaker and Triple H, but took aim at Hardcore Holly, Bubba Ray Dudley (TNA wrestler Brother Ray), and former WWE star Test. “I never liked him,” Orton said of Bubba Ray. “I never liked what he did because he only thought of himself. In the match my foot was broken, it was his fault… Bubba Dudley is the most out of shape, fat, non-work-ethic-having person I knew. And you had a bad taste in your mouth when you met him.”

Strangely, Orton was happy that he suffered a broken collarbone. “It is really great that I got hurt,” Orton said. “I thank God that I broke my collarbone. At the time I wasn’t thankful. I missed work, but being home with my wife the last two months of the pregnancy and witnessing the birth of my baby, which could have missed if I was on the road, that would have been horrible.”

Orton also talked about his bad behavior in the role, how he’s adapting to his new role as a husband and father and why he likes it when the fans chant “boring” during his matches. Orton also mentions that he took up motorcycle riding as a hobby related to his anger management.

Orton teases returning at or around SummerSlam, but this interview was conducted before the motorcycle accident reported on WWE.com last Monday.

Randy Orton was involved in a motorcycle accident near his home Sunday night that could have ended his life were he not wearing a helmet.

Orton, who has only been riding motorcycles for a month, said he was riding around a sharp curve on a steep hill home when an oncoming car veered into his lane causing him to widen his turn.

Orton then struck a curb and was thrown from his bike. He collided with the ground, knocking him unconscious. In his words, Orton “bounced and rolled just under 300 feet, landing in a ditch.”

“When I came to, I knew I had rebroken my collarbone,” said Orton. “When the police and fireman got there, they asked me ‘Where’s the guy who was in the wreck?’ and I said ‘It was me.’”

Orton, who was wearing just shorts and a sweatshirt, only sustained the rebroken collarbone.

“Without a helmet, I would be dead,” said Orton. “Now that I have a newborn daughter, so much was going through my head.”

Although the initial prognosis is that Orton will not need surgery, this injury will set him back an additional three months before he can return to the ring.

Orton did have one final message for his fans … “I will ride again.”

Well, we wish Randy Orton a speedy recovery with the hope a little sense has been knocked into him.

Randy Orton himself reportedly posted on the Randy-Orton.com message board early yesterday saying that his wife gave birth to his daughter, Alanna Marie Orton, on Saturday night.

Alanna Marie Orton was born Saturday july 12th at 924 pm. she was 8lbs 10 ozs, and 22.5 inches long. she is absolutely flawless from head to toe, and a very content baby. sam and i brought her home yesterday (tues) and it has been wonderful acclimating her to our home.
