Everything Is Bigger In Texas - Wrestlemania XXV

World Wrestling Entertainment is already planning for next year’s Wrestlemania 25. WWE has posted this press release:
Everything Is Bigger In Texas: WrestleMania XXV In Houston
STAMFORD, Conn.– Fresh off the tremendously successful WrestleMania XXIV in Orlando, World Wrestling Entertainment® is already working with the Houston business community on WrestleMania XXV, which will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Houston’s Reliant Stadium, home to the NFL’s Houston Texans.
WWE executives and WWE’s most decorated Superstar, Ric Flair, traveled to Houston today to meet with local city officials and businesses, to begin preparations for this milestone event. Their collaborative agenda includes planning stadium production, discussing sponsorship opportunities and organizing citywide activities. The trip included a luncheon with more than 100 Houston business leaders and discussion of how their companies could integrate with sports entertainment’s biggest pop culture event.
For the past two years, WrestleMania has attracted fans from around the world, and infused up to $30 million into the local economies of host cities Detroit (WrestleMania XXIII) and Orlando.
The always anticipated WrestleMania weekend is expected to feature the 2009 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the annual Bacon, Bagels and Biceps Brunch, the annual national WrestleMania Reading Challenge Finals, another wish granting initiative with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, visits to schools and libraries, local fundraisers and exciting opportunities to meet WWE Superstars and Divas at various public appearances.
“Fans in Houston can expect an up-close and personal experience when WrestleMania XXV comes to Texas next year,” said Geof Rochester, Executive Vice President, Marketing. “It’s going to be an amazing 25th Anniversary celebration.”
In 2001, the Houston Reliant Astrodome hosted WrestleMania 17 (WrestleMania X-Seven). A record 67,925 fans witnessed Stone Cold Steve Austin regain the WWE Championship from The Rock, among other exciting matches, making WrestleMania X-Seven, at the time, the highest grossing live event in WWE history. In addition, the event shattered Reliant Astrodome live attendance records.
Hulkamania Making its Way to Cell Phones Near You
Hulkamania Fever is Running High With Gameloft’s ‘Hulkamania Wrestling’ Video Game
Gameloft(R), who is a leading publisher and developer of mobile phone based video games, has announced a licensing agreement with legendary wrestling icon, Hulk Hogan. The deal, negotiated through Hogan’s marketing agent, Darren Prince of Prince Marketing Group, brings one of wrestling’s most popular personalities to mobile gaming.
Hulkamania Wrestling will give fans the chance to experience an amazing amount of holds, wild wrestling beat downs, and the power of the people’s champ, Hulk Hogan, right to the palm of their hands.
“We are excited to be expanding the Gameloft family of licenses into the wrestling genre and are delighted to do so with a man as renowned as the legendary Hulk Hogan,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of Publishing, Gameloft. “Wrestling fans are fanatical about having access to their favorite sport and our new Hulkamania Wrestling will let them enjoy it everywhere.”
“Hulkamania is alive and well and I’m excited to give my fans a mobile game that is true to my experiences in wrestling,” said Hulk Hogan. “I’m confident that Gameloft will inject their signature style to produce the ultimate wrestling game for all my fans to enjoy on the go.”
Backed by the iconic power of Hulk Hogan himself and featuring a 3D isometric view that provides total immersion into the ring, Hulkamania Wrestling gives fans a realistic wrestling beat-down, complete with eccentric wrestlers, jabs and humorous dialogue. With an amazing number of no-holds-barred moves, players can take down their opponents with bone crushing efficiency through the use of such classics as the Strong Clothesline, Spinbuster, Pedigree, Doublehand Choke Lift and more.
Not only will you get a chance to play as wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, but you will also be able to take on 7 of wrestling’s other legends, all with different looks and wrestling styles. Just like in the actual ring, players will be able to use their environments — hurl chairs or throw opponents on tables — to completely dominate their opponents and claim the Hulkamania Wrestling Ring as their own!
Hulkamania Wrestling will make its way to the wrestling ring on your mobile phone in August 2008.
Kevin Nash Bashes WWE
In an interview that was published today in the Daytona News Journal, TNA wrestler Kevin Nash was asked about the differences in working for TNA and WWE. When asked what was it like working for World Wrestling Entertainment, the Big Sexy said, “It’s a miserable existence.”
Nash goes on to praise TNA president Dixie Carter: “Dixie Carter and the people that run the company have a different philosophy. It’s also just the working environment — there’s a lot less pressure. Our boss cares about the guys. She wants us to be healthy. And she feels if it evens the playing field, than nobody has an advantage and guys will live longer.”

Backstage News On The Rock’s Heat At The Hall Of Fame
Several sources inside the WWE were surprised to hear reports of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson being aloof backstage at the Hall of Fame. They thought he was just being his regular Dwayne Johnson self and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.
Apparently there were only a couple people upset with Johnson, but they were, of course, the top people in the company. Most of the heat on The Rock has been attributed to either jealousy or not knowing that he had to leave immediately because he’s working on the Witch Mountain film.
The Rock talked to Mr McMahon before the show and talked about having some fun on the show and having a long monologue to open up the show as if he was the host of the show. The Rock told Vince that he would roast some of the guys in attendance and be self-deprecating. McMahon loved the idea and Rock apparently said that he was having a great time and would have gone for another hour if he could have.
If you remember Both The Rock’s and Flair’s speeches went long, but only Flair was told to ‘wrap it up.’
So maybe the whole this is just a mole hill after all.
Brooke Hogan Does Maxim..Hulk Snaps a Few
As a developing story that should get told: Hulk Hogan & Brooke Hogan are quickly mentioned in today’s New York Daily News. Brooke apparently took part in a Maxim photo shoot where the Hulkster paid her a visit. It’s reported that: “Hulk Hogan paid a surprise visit to daughter Brooke’s Maxim mag photo shoot in L.A. and snapped a few pics of his own.”
Umm…Thoughts? I’m sure he just wanted to keep them for his photo album
